Power Wire Question.....

Oh.. I guess that would make sense... Kinda.. Besides the fact that it is a car audio forum.. lol.

To be helpful.. The wire size is dependent on power AND length... So, how far are you running the power wire?

I have always used 4 ga. wire in all my setups. This is the first time Im running a small system.

I never ask questions here, because I have a fair amount of knowledge with ca.

The day I have a question I get ridiculed by an 07er.

another thing I would like to mention:

different sites have different answers on the thickness of wire according to wattage

ex: bcae and 12volt

so...is this a silly question to ask?

Refer to a 12v wire sizing chart to properly size your wire. The chart will recommend a wire size based on the length of the run, the amount of power you'll run through the wire (obviously) and based on a maximum allowable voltage drop. This chart will tell you the apropriate sized wire to use given your situation. Then you look at a fuse sizing chart to determine the proper fuse size for the wire you just chose. Fuse size is dependant on wire diameter exclusively, not length.
