Power Wire Question.....

I have always used 4 gauge power wire......because I have always had sound systems of 800 watts RMS or more!

I currently have a 400 watt RMS setup (one sub amp setup). Can I go with 8 gauge wire?

yes I think 8 ga would be sufficent.......

i thought there was a thread on if u are running x amount of watts, u should have x size power wire. or was that cs.com that had that. i think we need one as a sticky round here.

The amp size does not affect fuse size. The fuse is sized to protect the wire, hence your question should be what fuse size given 8ga wire.
