i ran by a guy yesterday and we talked for a little while. he said most kids end up messing up there power supply by wiring there system up with long grounds and mile long power wire...haha. anyways. i just wanted to see if this is true. i know the shorter the ground the better but should the power wire be shorter too to have more power ???

The shorter the wire, the better. What kind of current are you drawing (how many amps)?
honestly I dont know... its in a 93 subaru impreza. at the moment im only running 1 redtop battery off of a 150 amp alt... 1 run of 0 gauge and an autotek mm4000 running 2 18" re mt's wired to 1 ohm... its a 12 volt system.... it still needs a lot of work before its done but in general the shorter the wire the better you say?

Yep. You might even want to do 2 runs, it could help your voltage. Idk how many amps the autotek is pulling but it might be around really close to what most 1/0 is rated at, 300a. The less distance your current has to travel, the better.

yea thats what i figured.. ill probably find a new ground and mount my amp closer to the front.. shorten it by about 5 feet.. and yea i was already planing on adding 2 more runs of 1/0 guage. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ill be putting in my kinetiks soon too so thatll help me tremendously.. thanks for the input !!!

If you really want to get a good electrical run grounds. You could do 2 runs of power and ground. Or 3 runs. It gets costly, but if you're really trying to beef it up I would recommend it.

you aint kidding. i just spent almost 400 on 3 more fuseholders and 100 ft of kicker hyperflex. the 1/0 i have going from front to back right now isnt all that flexible, welding cable, and i figured if i'm going to pull it all up to run new shit anyway, i'd might as well do the good stuff. i'm doing dual 1/0 runs for both power and ground between my 2 batteries, and doubling up the big 3 btw.

Yep. How do you like your 4k? I can get one for $600 local, and I have a AQ HDC318, but it's a dual 2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

yea... well thats what i was kinda sayin. i already have 1 run. ill end up haveing 3 total for power... is it better to run a ground straight from your battery under the hood to the rear batteries , or can i just ground those batteries seperatly and work just as good???

only had it installed for 6 weeks or so, but so far it seems strong as hell. bit current hungry, but doesn't get too hot. small footprint for such a powerful amp too.

For the best results, run the ground from the front battery. That way all your batteries and your alternator are directly connected to each other through copper. Copper=really good conductor. Frame=not so much.

I know a guy who has 4 for sale, $600 a piece, so I was thinking about it. That's the only thing I've heard though, they have to have a high voltage.

haha. makes perfect sense... i guess this is what i get for wanting a better system. lol... oh and one last ? if i do a run from the ground from the front batttery to the rear, can i still ground those batteries to the frame so basically like a double ground?? in way it sounds like it would be grounded better but it also seems like that could end up really bad.

Yea, and extra run of power wire would help you out some and doesnt cost that much...I'd check it out if you have voltage issues as it is...if you dont have issues of that sort, I wouldnt mess with it.

And definitely...the shorter the wire the better
