Power wire fuse keeps blowing...

I have had my amp for about 7 years now (JL 500/1) and recently the power wire fuse keeps blowing. I put the amp under the passenger seat and I figured one of my passengers shoes got it wet. I took out the amp, took it apart and had it inside for a week by my heater. I also noticed some blue gel looking stuff all round where the power, ground and signal wires go in on the inside of the amp. I cleaned that all out, dried the amp but the fuse still blows. I am using a 40A fuse. The fuse blows with the ACC on or off. I disconnected the power wire from the amp and put a new fuse in and it didn't blow. Nothing else on the inside of the amp looks bad at all. The only thing I can think of is to put a bigger fuse in and see what happens. Can anyone please help?! Thank You...

Don't use a bigger fuse. That's not the problem. Something is shorting (obviously) either inside the amp or outside. If the amp is that old I would just pull the back cover off and look inside, the blue gel is usually capacitor related, so I'd be looking for some blown caps in the power supply section. The slash series amps have weird locations for the power supply and signal sections so I can't tell you off hand where to look. But I wouldn't just keep throwing more fuse at it unless you want your car on fire
