Power draw using 2 chs of 4-ch amp

If I have, for example, a 4-ch amp with a max power draw of 30A, but I use only two of the channels, to power 2 speakers, correctly impedance matched (and assuming I never ever use the other 2 channels) would the amp's max power draw be 15A?

Or would this vary from manufacturer to manufacturer?

In a general sense - yes, if you're only getting 1/2 the power out of the amp its current draw would be about proportional.

However - the maximum current draw of the amp would come with all channels driven at minimum impedance. If the two channels are driven at more than min impedance you would likely be drawing less than half max current.

On top of that -- maximum current draw is only constant if the amp is playing test tones at full volume. Actual continuous current draw playing music would be less than 1/2 the maximum, with only short bursts approaching 30A. Even less if the amp is playing at less than full volume.

Only running two channels would give you similar results relative to a 15A max.
