help with amp setting

i have a 1100 watt memphis amp and i need some help setting the gains on it properly. because it sounds like im clipping a little bit.

i have an eclipse cd3200 head unit.

and 2 rockford fosgate p3s 12 inch

i know this information is in the sticky section, ive read over it and it just doesent make complete sense to me.

could you please put this information in simple terms.

Voltage out with no load, set DMM to VAC, put across the amp outputs and set voltage to this setting while inputting a 50-60Hz tone to the amp.

Sqrt(W/load)=VAC RMS out.

no harm in running the gain a little on the safe side. If you think you hear clipping back the gain off a bit.
