I still don't understand how there is clean or dirty A/C.
The reason you get mixed feeling on this issue is because there are many variables.
It's best to scope out your AC line for problems, if found, fix it. If nothing is found, no
fix needed. Nobody does this.

Filters in electronic equipment may be there not to filter out crud coming into them,
rather the filter is used to prevent the noise they generate from coming out and
feeding it back into the AC line.
But some of these filters are bi-directional, they may filter crud both ways. If some jack-azz
had a crappy piece of noisy gear that they plugged into their house, the noise it generates
can leak into the rest of the house. By adding these filters to common electronic devices,
you filter out the noise going out and coming into it.
The real question is audibility of the noise for your install ? Don't worry about other people's
homes and installs, yours is the only one important as the variables are different.
