As it says and also you can include Tips for spl in general that have hurt/helped you. I Know this is a common question and I think it would be cool to have a dedicated post to it. I have noticed over time (as well I am sure a lot of you little things affect the termlab in great lengths.

I can start

1. When I put two small 45's in the box didn't change the volume ANY but gained 1 db on the termlab

2. I know a lot of people actually gain a significant amount when disconnecting the door speakings (I guess weird cross waves which cause cancellations and we all know the termlab DONT LIKE CANCELLATION!!) And we are talking about in excess of a DB

3.Box placement for some reason affects the termlab greatly in some setups. up to 4 to 5 db although sound wise makes no difference .

4. Termlabs love aero ports lol or perhaps all SPL for that matter, just have experience with termlab.

5. OH !!! Amplifier gain matching if running multiple amps. If you don't have your amps aligned with a digital multi meter there are good chances the amps are off a good amount. And believe it or not this can make loads of difference on the termlab. I know at one show I gain matched a guys amp at a meca show last year. He went up 2.3 DB I believe. He was pretty surprised because didn't sound any different before I gain matched.

If I think of anymore I will post. Come on everybody be good sports... Post some of the things you have found as well

For me I lost with 45's in corners.

Things like closing vents, seat forward and leaning, vizors up or down, glove box open, centerconsole open has gained me tenths.

Box placement is huge. Gained 4.9 db on a gp just by centering the box the way the meter liked it.

i think
1. is false... until proven..

2. I could see some help

I have heard anything from visors down airvents closed.. etc
Hey I can't talk about universal but it is what I gained.. I was shocked because some of my friends that own a shop swear sometimes it gains massive amounts. I put them in. Played it, I go it didn't get any louder.... They go throw it on the lab. And I will be ****ed about a DB. I can't remember exactly. it was either .9 or 1.1. I remember thinking it was .1 from the db mark

I know I am in a daily wall and kinda stuck with box placement. I see some of you f*ckers gaining massive amounts by moving box LOL. I am like ****it I should get rid of the wall sometimes

can you duct tape on your air vents to further seal off the cabbin ?

or is that illegal in a comp ?

id be wanting to try applying duct tape to all the areas where glass meets door felt to further seal off the airspace inside the car that way. I know my door glass felts are all messed up and have 1/8" gap there. probly letting sound out maby ?
