Possible alternator problem?

2003 ford escort ( i know POS)

father-in-law's work car

just did a tune-up, but still stalls if RPM exceeds 6 then drops and has difficulty starting again. new battery also.

think its the alternator going bad?

do you have a multi meter? most part stores will test an alty for free othewise

yea i know i just dont want to do the trial and error, just seeing what all the options may be

Doubt it's a problem with the alternator..

Ignition module or coil perhaps?

All I can ASSume is the spark quits at that highish rpm but the fuel doesn't, flooding the engine causing the hard start.

After it stalls, does it start up easier after it sits for a few minutes?

Besides that, computer or something sensor related perhaps..

Could be.. but he would have one hell of a miss with a bad coil. He would also throw a code if it was a bad coil. Is your check engine light on? Do you have a miss?
