positive terminal getting really hot and melting terminal cup

ok so initially I thought it was because i was using 16 gauge speaker wire on sub, but now I got knu karma 10 gauge wire and I still smelt burnt plastic. I checked out the terminal again and touched the negative which was fine, then the positive terminal was blazin hot, burned my finger even.

So Next I suspect the ground wire to the amp being too small, but that's 4 gauge wire so I don't think it was the amp.

next the power cap has a small 10 gauge ground wire, maybe it's this?

To recap

subs are new amp is new speaker wire is new

power cap is old and positive terminal has shown signs of acid build up like found on car batterys.

maybe the power cap is bad?

Run your wire directly using some holes on the side of the box. Seal up the inside of the box with some liquid nails or other kind of sillicone.
hmmm this box im using is junk it's way too small and not even the right box for my subs... well thanks for the help, are terminal plugs ok to use?
