worst professional sports franchise in the world.
they passed up on Michael Jordan, the g.o.a.t., for Sam Bowie....then 25 years later they do it again & draft Greg Oden over Kevin Durant. I mean, seriously.
they went with Bowie over Jordan because they had a rising star in Drexler at the 2, somewhat understandable. somewhat, Jordan goes down as the greatest b-ball player of all-time & Bowie has a injury plagued career. but then 25 years later you do it again.
really? everyone around the league is saying Durant will be a star, & he is--2-3 yrs from now he'll be the #1 player in the world. the city of Portland says they want Durant, putting up billboards & begging ownership to pick him over Oden. Greg Oden already as prone to injury, he sustained a major knee injury between high school & college. & for some reason they still draft him over Durant. unbelievable.
he gets hurt midway through his first year & has surgery, then his second year he misses several more games with injuries. last year he didn't play a single game due to the previous injury which required another injury. now less than 3 weeks into this season he sustains another season ending knee injury which will require surgery.
meanwhile Kevin Durant is a rising superstar in Ok. City & is the most prolific scorer in the NBA. he is already an all-star & will soon be the biggest star in the league. last year he was an all-star & led the league in scoring, he has his team on the rise.
I just can't believe a franchise that went through the same thing, missing on the greatest of all-time, would do it again. passing up a star in the making for an injury prone big man. I feel sorry for the fans of Portland.
