Ported Mag 15" Box in GP trunk

Yikes, I figured out my maximum dimensions are 33w 16.5h and 22d

I want a ported box 3.5@30hz like Nick from SI recommends...but when I put my numbers into http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp calculator it says I need a depth of 24.5" to meet my desired tuning and volume. Here is the box it generated for me.

The Mags xmax is 26mm and displacement is roughly .2 cubes.

Are there other ways to build a ported box that will not require as much space? Im 2.5" short of my desired specs in depth. What is the deal with the other types of ported boxes? Do slot ports, aero ports and all of the varieties (I know nothing of these) take less space?

That has ~14 cu inches of port area per cu ft of net volume, which should be fine.

Gets your depth down to 21 inches.

You can change the xmax value to adjust the port area it shoots for.
