So I’m trying to design a box for my Kicker SoloBaric L7 15” D4. I have the 6.0ft^3 box recommended by kicker already but there are a couple of issues when placing it into my 05 Nissan Titan KC.
First issue is that the dimensions are gigantic for an extended cab. So much so that I can’t hardly lean the seat back.
Second issue is that the floor of the truck in back has a rise of about 8” for a length of 10” from the back wall. Therefore making putting the box in, in a safe and secure way is difficult to say the least.
So my thoughts were to build a box that will fit behind the drivers seat without a huge impact on front seat movement while still keeping volume and port etc properly tuned. The port size from the kicker recommended box is 3.5”x16.25”x13.75” (Depth). The Box I’ve sketched and figured volume and stuff for would have a port of 19.5625” x 4” x 9.95” (Depth).
i did all of this without any software because I dont have a windows computer. Only a Macbook. Unfortunately I overlooked the port AREA and now upon double checking things to be sure it would work caught that the areas are different by about 150%. So I’m not sure how to correct the port length to accommodate the area to get the same tuning. Or is it possible?
The shape of the box is my other question. As I stated before the floor of the truck has a large rise which prevents the box from sitting securely. The shape I designed would fit allowing the passenger/ middle (one seat) to remain in the truck and not impede the driver seat much. The Bottom end of the box would have a stair step though. I don’t think that the shape matters so much as long as the volumes and port area and spacing from sub to walls is all still good. Is that correct or do I need to start over. I’ll attach a sketch to clarify.
Or if anyone has any other design that would accomplish the same tuning etc I’d be grateful.
