Ported Box, need certain Hz?

I want to build my own tuned and ported box. I got 2 Alpine SWX1042D subs. I also have 2 Kenwood KAC-9152D mono amps. Is having a tuned ported box conditional on having amps that have settings for me to tune them to the same frequency as the box? The lowest LPF setting on my amps is 50hz, and I have the infrasonic switch filtering out anything below 25hz. Can I use a tuned ported boz with the amps that I have? I want to try building my own, but I want to make sure if it will work with my amps. Thanks, later. -Dave

sweet man, so if i build that tuned ported box, do you reccommend that I keep the same settings on the infrasonic filter at 25 hz and the lpf at its lowest setting of 50hz?

neither. tune it to whatever frequencies will be played the most. somewhere between 30-45Hz.

when you tund the box, let's say at 32hz, that box will play freqs. from 32hz and up. on the other end of the scale, from 32hz to 0hz it will slope down to nothing. the x-over settings on the amp, your 50hz for example, will cut out freqs. from 50hz and up going to your sub, this is where your mids would kick in. your filter to remove anything below 25hz, or what ever you set it to, will eliminate freqs. below that setting. this is so you sub does not over excursion.
