Looking into what you said, I think I will buy some MDF boards 1" thick and just build a 2 cb ft box.And drop a much wider port in it set to 30 hz?

3/4" thick will be plenty for your application. It'll also be cheaper than 1" and take up less space so your 2 cube box will essentially be smaller than if you build it with 1" thick.
