Port Ratio

What is a good port ratio? I'm making a slot port for a box...the length is 18.5" what should i make the width??? thanx for any help, peace.

JL says 9 to 1 ratio is a good rule of thumb. But you should try to "keep the port as square as aesthetically and physically possible."

I'd say around 1/3 to1/4. So if you were 18.5" high then 4.625" to 6.17' wide....that is if you HAVE to make it rectangular.

Well, i made it 18.5"x2.5" to have a reasonable length. Hope it works well. peace
