Port Question

I'm just gonna buy a q logic box for my 2 type r's and was wondering if you guys could help me out. The recommendation for the sub is a 3 inch diameter port 9.9 inches long. The box I was looking at had a 4 inch diameter port 12 inches long. If I just cut the 4 inch port shorter, would it all be the same in the end or would there be big diff?

Edit: Crutchfield: Recommended Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Alpine range from 0.75 cu/ft to 2.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Alpine is 1.7 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. A slot port with the following dimensions should be used with the 1.7 cu/ft enclosure: W=12", H=1.25", L=21". If you cannot use a slot port in your enclosure, you will need a port tube with the following dimensions: Diameter=3", L=9.9".

My box is 1.25 cubic feet per sub. WOuld that change anything?

I was gonna use the port tube. What would I need to change the length to get the tuning to around 34 hertz? Not sure on the speaker displacement but the box is 1.25 cubic feet.
