Port Plug

I read in another thread about the idea of a port plug (used by mlstrass and others) and wanted to know who uses them, and how they do it.

I use an SPL box (5 cf w/big port @ 50-53 Hz for burpin'), but I'd like the flexibility to demo on Gucci or Gorilla Zoe, and not sound like sheez.

The port plug would ideally tune the system down to 38-40 Hz, according to my sealed box response.

How do you (properly) make one?

bump.

If my logic is correct, it's just a wood "brick" that you attach with screws from the port outlet.

Best way to tune, that I can think of, is to restrict the port area down to the proper width. for the tuning. For me, I'd go from 21" x 4" ---> 12" x 4" according to the 12volt.com's port calculator. Does that sound OK?
