From what I've gathered from this thread... vented = aero, ported = slot for clarification reasons but technically a vented = ported in that they mean the enclosure is not sealed and that air is being transferred into and out of the box as the driver switches signal direction -- and that they are not bandpass. What would yield the best results would be to aeroport the box with the aero ports sticking outside the box... but if you don't have the space for that... aero porting would be optimum in this case most likely.
