Port or Seal?

I have my setup almost all-ready to be installed, once I send PowerNaudio money and he makes my box I should be all set.

But before I send him the money and finalize the plans, I would rather no regret my decision to port or seal these two PG RSD12D's.

These subs will be sent 900 watts rms a piece @ 1 Ohm from a Power Acoustik A2400DB.

I want as much SPL as possible, I am not worried about these keeping SQ because from what I have heard they are great SQ drivers.

I have about 1.8 cubes to work with in my reg. cab - Is this enough room to port these two subs? The recommended ported size for one is about 1.8, would adding another subwoofer seriously choke these subs or would it be fine? I could seal these with the perfect amount of space, but I do not want to regret sealing these bad boys.

So, slightly choked in a ported, or proper sealed for the most output???

That's not really a valid statement...

I've heard SI Mags in an install that made them sound like ***, even though they're "great SQ drivers" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But like Azbass said, if you lack the space to properly port them you might as well seal them. Or just use one.

i just did a quick comparison on WinISD of using my subs in you specs and all

the ported is about 3 db's louder below 50 hz then theey cross at 50 and the sealed is louder by about the same.. but this are my subs and not yours.. cause im to lazy to look up the paramiters of yours

.. but you could always do this with yours.. WinISD is free

peace

ported will be louder, sealed will sound better

and it doesn't matter if they are good sq subs, if you fuk up the frequency response enough, it wont have good sq

IIRC those subs like 1.4 cuft sealed so I don't think you have enough room to run two sealed or even one ported. You need different subs, too bad too since those are nice drivers. Also, if you want SPL why they hell would you buy those?

Well i checked into about what they want for enclosure sizes and such. I would suggest you make as big as a sealed box as you are able to fit. Just make sure you fill it with polyfill and you should be able to get away with it. Ported.. you could maybe fit one.. and that would be pushing it.
