Port Noise Question

Have you tried using WinISD? It will tell you the velocity the air is moving at in accordance to box size, tuning, size of your port, and the number of ports. Although it isnt perfect, you should be able to get a good estimate of what kind of box and ports will give off the least amount of noise.

Ya, thats what i've been usin, but to get the port size and length of port and internal size i would need it would end up being way too big to get into my trunk. That's why i'm going to have to have 42in^2 of port with port noise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif . But anyways, will that end up messing up my tuning? Or should it be just fine as long as the trunk is sealed off to the rest of the car?

I see you have a 15" SX, I'm building the box for mine. I'm glad now that I made the port area more than 60 sq in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

Lol, and expect it to take up a ton of space also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif .

Meh, I don't mind. I have a big trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

That's what i thought, but that thing will prolly take up about 7 cubes with ~60in^2 of port area, unless you're going to be tuning it high. And remember, you have to get it into the trunk also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif . What kind of car you got?

And again, anyone, is port noise going to affect anything as long as my trunk is sealed off from the cabin and i don't have to hear the port noise?

Port noise is port noise, if you can hear it than it matters I guess.

I tuned mine to 32 hz and 33 inches of port length, which makes for 6.9 cuft. I'm sure it'll fit in my 81 Buick Riviera.

Well that's why i was asking, just because there's port noise doesnt mean it's going to be in the cabin...that's why i was asking if it was going to affect anything else, like tuning.
