Edit: Nevermind I read what you were saying wrong.

beats me...but I think everyone knows its louder when the sound pressure has some where to go...via rolled down window, open door, etc.

Opening up windows lowers cabin pressure and allow for more excursion (at least thats my understanding anyway). I don't think the advantage of what you're trying to do will out way the amount of work it will take.

Don't these port through rear decks behave like BPs with a large sealed cavity? It would seem as though they did. Unless there is enough openings from trunk to cabin for the front wave to meet up with it. Most trunks I have dealt with don't have that much opening and seems like this would create a small 4th order effect.

I've tried it. I've also tried the sub and ports up through the rear deck. Firing ports and subs backward was about 2-3 db+ up from firing into the glass. If it gets louder in the cabin when you open the trunk you have cancelation issues in the trunk. There are louder designs for trunks other that those options also. I know of two that can do 150+ on 2-12" kicker or 2-10" subs with only 1200 watts on the tens. Great for daily too.

yes everything accept the port must be seald up.. this videos are an install in a friends passat with a DD2512a, when the door and trunk was closed it played something around 130dbs, but with open trunk and front doors it was something like 140dbs

I've always thought about that.

I've contemplated grabbing another rear set for my grand am outta the junk yard, and strip the back/inside of it out, so it looks stock, but only has a thin sheet of fabric on it. Then facing the subs toward that instead of back.... Too much work for me though (at least in this

i did something like this in the past. a single 15 facing back. a slot port aimed up at the rear deck. but the port wasn't going up though, just aimed at it. sounded really good. my personal opinon is that would be the way to go.

I've tried sub up and ports up (2-4" pnr) through the 6x9 holes with a hole new deck made from half inch mdf. Subs back and ports back is louder to the ears and on the meter. What do I know though I only made 12 boxes in 14 days to find this out.
