port direction

I'm building a new speaker box and the only way that I can build big enough is by having the ports facing opposite ways. Will this cause cancellation? I have a rough sketch so you can see where the ports are and the subs are. the front board is what you see when you open the trunk and the ports are on either side of it.

by your sketched dimensions, it looks as though you can mount your subs facing rearward along with your ports. can you explain again why you can't do this? even if the subs did not face rearward, if you have enough depth behind your subs to run the vent, there is no reason why you have to turn the ports at the back end, rather than inside the box on the front end and fire the vents to the rear.

these are 2 15 inch subs. the sub and the port both fire to the side. each sub has its own port. the reason this is my only option is that this boc is about 7.5 cuft. and that is a lot to squeeze into my trunk the way the ports fire off to the side is the only way i can give them 4 inches of clearence which is what kicker reccomends.

compvr 15s. the net volume is like 3^3ft per sub. so that is 6 cuft and the with the port and woofer displacement it adds up to about 7 cuft total.

if you can, fire the woofers up, ports to the side as long as you have at least 4-5" from any interferance.

how much room do you have AROUND the enclosure where the back of the enclosure meets the cabin pass through area? sounds as though you have no room there. you can build the box to take up the entire trunk and have all the room arond your vent that you want, it won't make it up front enough to mention. you'll have guys running around with a pair of 10's whooping your *ss. Back the 15's down to 2.5 cubes each with good port area and you'll still have an impressive bang in the trunk. anything less and you'll have been way better off going with a pair of 12's which using my experience as testament, you should have done in the first place. firing your subs upward into the trunk lid is just asking for more problems with the car.
