Box/port dims can always be massaged a bit, but if you have a sub that can move some air it will need room to breathe. High volume down near the tuning frequency can cause port noise if the port area is too small.

Yeah I feel like it was a mistake and he meant per sub. I decided to go with 13ft3 net, 186in2, 36hz to be a little on the bandwidth side.
