port area?

I am debating on whether to go with one or two boxes for my 2 12'' type r's. they are going to be slot ported to 34hz in 2.25 ft if i go individual boxes or 4.5 ft if i go with a single box. how many square inches of port do you recomend for both? any other info needed just ask
