Polyurathane ??

Im building my box out of 1/2 Birch and was wondering if i would notice any gain if i put polyurathane inside of it to make it super smooth. ID rather not waste the money unless its going to do a super amazing job.

Resin is out of the question.

i use it inside of my boxes, unless i'm building cheap. i paint the inside at the very least. i'm not sure if it actually helps with output, but it's a virtual guaruntee that the box is airtight. i'd actually use something else personally, but i get leftovers of urethane/varnish from work often. some types take an eternity to dry, especially varnish.
