Which would you rather have?

Frankly, I don't give a shit about trophies. I have about 100 in my garage that I'm trying to get rid of.

However, most newcomers like something to show for their accomplishments. Have trophies for a "newcomer" class perhaps?

One idea we were going to start was giving out gas cards for 1st place instead of trophies. At least you can put your prize towards something. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Why not look into plaques, they are usually cheaper than trophies, but nicer than certs.

BTW, we charge $15 at every competition and still give out trophies for 1st place and medals for 2nd and 3rd places, you save a ton this way as well.

Thanks. We did plaques a few years back, maybe I'll look into that again. I love the medal idea but I dont want to be a copycat either.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Shoot, copy if you want, we save on average around $100-175 per show by going with medals for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Usually we will get a big 3+ft trophy for "High SPL", a nice 2+ft for "Best Install" and a 1st place trophy & 2 medals per class.

Thanks DB Drag' date=' I really appreciate the suggestion. It's nice to see that we can all work together.[/quote']
No problemo, it's all for the betterment of the sport, the more promoters we can get out there the better. You can always trim another few bucks off the total if you did away with the specialty trophies and just went with 1st place class trophy and medals, but personally I like to have at least one large one it gives everyone something to shoot for. Or even 1st place trophy and 2nd and 3rd place certs. Also try and find a local shop to do your trophies, they are usually cheaper and will give you a better beal than somewhere like Dinn Bros.

Another tip is to charge $5-10 cheaper per contestant (say $15 instead of $25), but leave an option for re-runs @ $5 each, you make that initial discount up quick and more, alot of guys will toss down an extra $10-15 each on re-runs so you are making more in the end.
