hey im getting 1 because all i can find is one nakamichi sp 124s subwoofer 12 inch

here is the manual it came with, i do not understand what is the better choice i think ported is but i have no clue.

Ported @ 28hz would probably be my choice of those.

If this is regarding the Nac that you started your other thread about, then I would stick with sealed given the high Qts and low EBP of the subwoofer, just as I stated in your other thread.

PS: Your link doesn't work, and your poll options don't make much sense.

what are the thiele small parameters of the subwoofer?

In general,

a large sealed box would probably be best (less power needed to reach full output, and best matches room gain of the car) (sealed boxes roll off at 12dB/octave which matches room gain nicely)

The ported box usually only has a boost (over the sealed design) around the port frequency (...peaky isnt a very good thing) and rapidly rolls off below that so you dont get much low-end. (ported boxes roll off at 18+dB/octave...)

We will need Vas, Qts, and Fs to give you the most concise recommendation though

so that is a sealed not ported 1 cubic box, no special requirements i can order one off ebay the place that built boxes in town went out of buissness so id have to order out of town.

so a basic 1 cubic box sealed i thought could not be tuned.

.5 sealed seems to work well also (if you added polyfill you could go even smaller)

grey is ported and yellow is sealed (sealed seems the way to go...originally I was observing the room gain with the tuning at 23hz)

you get a peaky response with the ported box (+4 @ 20hz, +5.2 @ 30hz, +4.8 @ 40hz, +3.5 @ 50hz, +2.2 @ 60hz, +1 @ 70hz) (+ over the sealed configuration)

There is no tuning with a sealed box.

Just make sure it is the correct volume and has no air leaks and you are good to go.
