When you look at cone area, you're doing it all wrong.
You need to look at the Sd of the speaker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I would say cone displace would be what to look for imho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

So... radiating cone area wise:

2 18s = 2420 cm^2

4 15s = 3240 cm^2

8 L710s = 3512 cm^2

To give an idea of linear displacement (using the manufacturer's xmax spec)

2 18" BTLs = 6776 cm^3 (28mm xmax with HiXm coils)

4 15" SSDs = 6804 cm^3 (21mm xmax)

8 10" L7s = 4916.8 cm^3 (14mm xmax)

Keep in mind, xmax is one way linear... but you get the idea. And it doesn't necessarily mean one will be louder than the other... a multitude of other factors are also important. It just gives an idea of displacement.

I vote four 15 sx's
if i do 15's, it will most likely be Type-R's or Fi SSD's. between the SX's being able to handle more than their rated 1000RMS by far, and such things as impedance rise and whatnot, the SX's will be underpowered.

i like the 10 idea...just to show people what they can do and bc it would fool alot of people, that and it would look badass
its really a tough call

now for me, its pretty much out of the 15's and 10's. the 15's have more displacement overall i guess, but the 15's would be firing practically right into each other (looking at the depth of the subs, the sub walls would be at no less than 60 degree angles) which would cause some cancellation.

i like the looks of the 10's better, but its a tough call between all of the setup variables on which will perform better

The tens would be expensive. but would offer maybe teh most longevity just because there are more coils to veny power/heat to.

The 4 15's would be my bet though.

PS plust you could say "four fifteens didnt see no fires, then I heard boom from the amplifiers..."

true, L5's wouldnt run me too much more. the difference between 4 type-rs and 10 L5's is like $150

oh, and i could care less about the quote.
