Whats the difference between polycarbonated clear and acrylic clear plexi? Why is the carbonated clear cheaper?
Plexiglass (acrylic) is a versatile material that has great impact strength yet is light weight with exceptional optical quality. Plexiglass (acrylic) can be used for a number of applications such as signage, glazing, displays, picture framing, aquarium tanks, and much more. Plexiglass (acrylic) is easy to work with. It can be sawed, drilled, routed, glued, painted, decorated, silkscreened, and formed.
Our plexiglass sheet inventory includes a number of stock sizes that are usually ready to ship within 1 to 3 business days.
Acrylic refers to a synthetic plastic material. Plexiglass, plexi-glass, lucite, acrylite or acrylic glass are often used to describe acrylic. There are several manufacturers of acrylic sheets. Some of the brand names of these manufacturers are Plexiglas, Chemcast, Acrylite, Lucite. Plexiglas® is a registered trademark of Arkema, Inc. The actual brand we ship out will depend on current stock.
Hope that helps, I'd suggest going with 3/4" Lexan although 3/4" plexi would work also.Polycarbonate, aka lexan, is a tough and durable plastic material which is hundreds of times stronger than glass and many times stronger than acrylic. Polycarbonate will meet those demanding applications where glass and acrylic fall short.
Your the man, exactly what I neededcheck out http://www.estreetplastics.com for plexi and Lexan.

3/4" plexi? They don't make the polycarbonated in 3/4. Would 1/2 work if I'm using 3/4 MDF for base and sides?
Yeah, they don't make the stronger polycarbonated plexi in 3/4, only the acrylic comes in 3/4. The thickest of the poly is 1/2, would that work with the 3/4 MDF, probably will go with 1" MDF? Any good sites to purchase the MDF or does homedepot carry it? Sorry, first box build.
