Plexiglass box

any one have any experience with plexiglass boxes??? How do they sound, any different than wood?? any better or worse?? Im looking at a 15" power hx2 in a 1" thick plexiglass box. how would that pair up?

Three things. Real ***** to build. It has to be perfect cause plexi costs too much to mess up on. It's also a pain to seal. Second, it will cost a ton. Finally its cost will only be exceeded by its weight.

I had one made from 3/4 plexi and each joint was dovetailed. Was VERY NICE. And VERY hefty. Was a 2.25 cuft box. LOL. was for a 15 as well. I paid $150 for it.

You can build a acrylic box fairly easy, actually. It's a joy to work with, assuming you make clean accurate cuts. Use an acrylic solvent based glue to join the parts, it will **** itself into the joints via capillary action and create a very solid clean joint.

But beware, a sheet of 4x8 acrylic can easily run you $250, depending on thickness. So measure 4 times and cut once!

Coudn't you use thick sheets of clear styrene so you wouldn't have to spend as much?
