Hey there.. this will be my first setup and I am fairly new to this, but this is the setup I have put together and I would like feedback. If everyone agrees it is a pretty good one I will be buying it.

Amp: http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-06ZX750-1-Watts-Mono-Sub-Amplifier/dp/B000FICFXC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1244686605&sr=1-2

Sub: http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-SWR-1242D-12-Type-R-Subwoofer/dp/B0009NXN7K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1244686449&sr=8-1#moreAboutThisProduct

For the box I am not sure but these are the two im looking at;

and

My local shop said they would install it all for $220 - seems a bit expensive? (thats without me bringing my own amp kit though)

I REALLY appreciate all help/tips.

Thanks!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The install price seems about right but I hope they do good work. You could get a lot louder for less money but I'm not sure if you're limited to using only 1 sub and if you really want a Kicker amp.

Solid setup.

Both boxes will make noise.

I suggest to: 1) Learn how to install car audio. 2) Learn how to make a sub box.

None of those is hard to do at all, just take your time and search here or google and learn. You WILL thank yourself later.

x2. Make your own box and do the install yourself and you'll have a good beginner's set-up and learn a lot in the process.

I will be sure to do some research on building boxes and getting beginners knowledge etc. ^

My budget is roughly $700-800

The type R isn't a bad first setup. It'll get you loud for cheap.

Definetely the weakest part of your setup is your box. Please don't buy a prefab (prefabricated box).

Box is super important for every install, and really determines what your woofer is going to sound like.

My first sub was a Type R. I'd recommend it in a 2.0-2.5ft^3 box tuned at 30-34hz.

If you're interested, I actually have a pretty much new type R in a box made just for it, 2.3 ft^3 @32hz. PM me if you're interested.

what about comps? Gotta have comps.

Other than that, yeah, that box will not get loud at all. Try getting someone to make you one or do it yourself. The type r will get loud and sound good off that 750 watts though in a decent sized box.
