Please Recommend the perfect sub

Hi everyone,I heard this is a very helpful page for car audio questions. My current setup includes 2 12" HX2's (4ohm DVC) that run off a RF 500a2 (250watts apeice). I would like to clear some space in my trunk and therefore need to drop down to having one sub.

Please recommend a sub that would be perfect with that AMP. It is 500 x 1 @4ohms. I appreciate your help.

PS would it be as loud having one sub that gets 500watts compared to 2 that each get 250?

yes it could...how much are you looking to spend?? are you looking for just SPL or some SQ too?

id recommend one adire audio shiva, and they go for 125 dealer direct at http://www.adireaudio.com . It wouldn't be as loud as two of those hx2s(given the fact of cone area), but if you build a ported box and tune it right, you will almost for certain kill those hx2s!!!!!!!!

it depends on how much he has to spend...if hes looking to spend the same amount as he paid for the 2 hx2's...why go with a shiva when u could go with something better

id be willing to sell one of my 12w6v2's for $300 + shipping. Used for about 3 weeks...probably only had them playing for a total of 5 hours.

I was planning on selling my 2 HX2's (incl. enclosure) and using the money to get another sub... hoping to have some money left over.

Isnt the 12w6v2 400watts continuous? The amp is underratted at 500watts. I also think that sub is a little too expensive. What else?

the 12w6v2 is 400w RMS...you are correct there, but you are incorrect by stating 500 watts would be too much. Just as your amp is underrated...so is the sub. I have 2 of these run by a 1200.1(also underrated)...which is 600 watts to each sub. No distortion in the subs. Your amp would not overpower these subs.

ive heard the new w6v2 and they are not as loud as the origanal w6'sfor the money ur gonna spend on w6v2 go with the regular w6 you cant go wrong with those plus there cheap now i can get 3 10's for 325thats not bad for 3 subs

i wouldn't pay 300 for a used w3v2 any day ever. i think all jl products are way overpriced. now if you wanna spend around 300bucks for a sub spend 369 and get 1 adire brahma 12" thump like hell and clean as hell to.
