please help

Hi all, I have just ‘attempted’ to install an amp and a subwoofer. I already have an aftermarket head unit and front speakers and wanted to pump up my setup. I got my speakers and head unit professionally installed, but didn’t have the option to do that this time and decided to go for it. I did everything and the amp turned on but would not pass an output signal into my sub. I tested the output and it was not giving signal (with a multimeter) and it was doing a wierd negative amps when testing. I tested my ground and it was all good, my power coming in was good. I am lost on what to do, if someone could give advice it would be huge. I am using an POWERBOX400.1M-V7 amp and a 10inch JL sub. I would appreciate any and all help i can receive!

When testing an amplifier's output, use AC Volts on the multimeter. If no or little voltage is the result, your input signal may be weak. Put radio volume at about 75%. Now try sweeping the Gain up a bit to see if voltage rises. Set Low Pass halfway (about 90Hz), Bass Boost halfway.
For 400 watts you should get 40v AC for 4 Ohms or 28v AC for 2 Ohms.

Hi, so i have done some tests regarding how much power my amp is getting. Ehen the car is off, so when the remote wire is not giving any power, my amp is getting 12 volts, but when my car is on it is only getting like 6 volts from the battery and from the remote, what is the problem.

Might not be an issue. Another user posted about this issue a few days back. Amp off, he had 12+v, amp on, zero volts. But amp worked as it should.

But my amp is not working as it should as the power light flickers and no power is going
to sub

Could this issue be the fuse inside the amp?

I doubt it. If the power is dropping then something is using it. Have you tried the above tests? Should give you a definite answer if none of those work.

Yes I will do those tests sorry, I just tested witb a different amp, it is receiving 12 volts when the car is off, when the remote wire gives power (car is on) voltage drops and the amp doesn’t turn on. I am beyond lost, I have tested my ground it works, used a different remote wire just hooked up to a battery I have no idea what’s happening
