Hello everyone,

I just installed my system and hits like nothing I've heard before! I just wanted to see if I can get some opinions my bass seems to cut off at a certain volume level. If i keep the rpm's up it doesn't cut off. I believe that the cause is the alternator. Has anyone experienced this before? I've always had high output cars/alyernators so this is new to me. Can this me fix with an XS battery upgrade? Thanks in advace for any help ! Happy holidays!

2009 Honda fit Mugen.

Stock alernator & battery.

1/0 gauge power and 1/0 grounded to frame.

Alpine pdx-m12 1275 watts rms running 2 L7's 12"

Dls ra40 running mids & tweets

Audio control qdx

Upgrade your alternator. Have it rewound or buy a high output one. It sounds like when you turn it up, your alternator can't keep up. Is it just when it hits hard that it stop or at a high volume in general.

It may also be your amp going into protect. Whats your gain set to?

I have the gains a little past half. It doesn't give out if i keep the engine inhigh rpms just if I'm at idle and I turn it up and the song starts with a bass note it will choke and come back when I turn it down . But if i drive and keep the engine in a lower gear and turn it up it will go all the way without giving out.

Putting a heavy system on a honda fit is like putting it on a lawnmower. lol. The stock electronics just aren't very strong because the car itself doesn't need it. You've got a high watt sub amp plus a 4 channel. That could be tough on a decent alternator much less a small one that would be in the fit.

I set the gains using audio controls dqx with the level indicators.

Alternator is ? I have no clue

I'm using a alpine pdx-m12 pushing 1275 rms. Subs

Dls ra40 pushing 75 x 4

Anyone know any good electrical shops in LA Burbak area?

Didn't see you posted the info, lol.

I looked and from what I've found your stock alternator is around 80 - 90 amps. 1275 rms alone is around 130 amps, plus 50 more amps for the Dls ra40, your looking at around 190 total including electrical.

You need to upgrade your alternator. It can't keep up when you turn it up. You should get a 200 amp alternator with a 2nd battery.

Look up Mechman and like you said before XS Power

Also Honda's turn off the Alternator when it senses that it is not needed in order to gain gas mileage.

It is called ELD (Electronic Load Detection) - until you bypass that feature no alternator is going to help.

Also because the amp is hooked directly to the battery, the ELD does not sense that it is a load on the electrical.
