Hi guys, I'm looking for an amp to push between 500-600 to 2 subs; 1000-1200w total. I thought i knew a little about amplifiers, but after reading many threads on here id MUCH rather have input from you guys. Im kinda lost at this point:confused: .. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks very much!

i have a kicker kx1200.1 and it does (obviously) 1200 watts at one ohm mono. I love it, couldn't be happier with it. That thing's a beast. That's all I can recommend cuz I won't recommend something I have used personally...

Alrighty thanks very much ill look into it! im assuming you can hook a mono amp to more than one sub, noob question i know lol. also, my subs are 4ohm dual voice coil, does this make any difference in what ohm i can get them down to stable?

1 and 4 ohms

no, 1200 watts at 1 ohm mono.

and yeah dude you can hook up 2 subs to one amp. Just make sure you wire them to the correct impedance. I have 2 dual 4ohm R's in my trunk wired to 1 ohm.
ahh you are correct sir, im thinking of their newer amps i think

yeah i did a quick search to confirm (sometimes I can't remember what series it is) and all I could find was the new kx1200's and they look weird. Mine's older and different.

the KXs will do 1200 @ 1 ohm after i looked, but i dont think the SX or ZX series will

Thanks a lot guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. ill look into prices and see what would best fit my budget. if im running this setup with a descent amp for components, am i going to have to get a bigger battery and/or alternator? ive heard of people having to do both of those, but i dont know at what point youre pulling that much juice. again thanks for posting you have no idea how much youre helping me lol

You need an amp that'll do that power at 1 or 4ohms.

Theres plenty to look at

Sundown saz-1500

RE Audio 12.1

Hifonics 1606d (The amp I have, pushes about 1300rms or so at 1ohm, I like it)

Orion 1200d

etc....

Edit:

I've got a '98 grand am, and the electrical is stock except for the big three, and battery never drops below 13v with the three amps...

If it was a problem though, I'd go big three first (obviously), better battery (Yellow top/kinetik), and then a HO alt
