I need something that puts out around 1000 watts @ 1 ohm. Do you guys think this is a good choice for the price or is there something less expensive that is better?

id say thats a pretty good pick. there are some 1000wrms amps out there obviously cheaper but for qaulity and price there pretty great for what ya get otherwise the orion 1200ds are super nice too but ud be seeing more than 1000wrms

Is this decent? I only ask because I rarely hear of them being used...

That nine.1 is a really solid amp. I saw one just a sec ago in teh classifieds.

For the price you can't get much better than that cadence amp. They are really long though.

may look into them when I get around to my build. sound like exactly what I need.

although their board didn't look to impressive. looks can be decieving though.

Thats the only reason I'm not going to get it too. I'm going to get the Cadence Daytona amp. If you message JasonPaul, he's on this forum, he can cut you a hell of a deal. At one time he could get me the Daytona 1000x1 at 1ohm amp for around $250 shipped with the same two year warranty. He works for Cadence.

If you are considering the $300+ range. Look at the Cadence ZRS or Daytona line.... On wooferetc you can see the ampguts on the ZRS.

I just received the ZRS-7000D and the ZRS 1004. They are really nice looking. Probably wont get them all installed until after the Holidays.

Yea, the board looks like that because it doesn't appear that they used it very effciently so everything is spread out. If they were just more spatial with their design then it would "look" a lot more impressive and have a smaller footprint.
