Please help on speaker placement location

Guys, I need help deciding on where I should put my component.

I have the CDT EF51-CV and will be powering them 60 rms each.

I'm not sure where I should put them? I was thinking buying q-logic kickpanel and do some modification to it.

Or should I just mount them on the door? which would be better?

I heard about q-logic being flimsy, not good midbass response, and just wondering what kind modification to make it better? is it worth the hassle?

I have a ford focus and alpine 9833 HU if that helps with anything.

Thanks guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I know this is no help but I'd give props to anyone with the skill and the lack of care for their vehicle to mount 6.5's in the dash! talk about proper imaging //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif... but I'd say ummm I generaly stick with modified stock locations... though foci have room for kick panels.... so learn how to use fiberglass and go nuts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

Thanks for the reply Acidicdreams.

Anyone else can give me some opinions about this? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Some Q-logics are aimed good, some are aimed poorly. If you want to try the Q-logic route, you'd need to reinforce it with layers of fiberglass and molding clay. IMHO it'd be just as easy to build your own rather than try to fix the Q-logics.

i say DIY kickpods. i used the q-logics and they get decent imaging, but the midbass output was crapola. i then put the speakers back in the door and the midbass output was a lot better but the imaging blew. soo with better reinforced DIY pods, u get the best of both worlds.

well i mounted my ef-51's in q-logic kicks and was very pleased with the imaging, but lacked the midbass. i used a few layers of fiberglass resin & hardner for renforcement. i mounted some 6.5" mids in my doors and went with a 3-way setup, so that took care of my midbass problems.

My question is should I mount the tweet on the kickpanel together with the midrange or up on the A-pillar?
Best to try to keep them together. I'd try to go with kickpanel mounted tweets. If you can get the aiming correct, you'll still have a nice high soundstage.
