Please help me with a raised logo : ( (pics)

what kind of glue/cement are you using.

i know when i was working next to a upholstery shop i would always go over there. and i was told some glues/cements let of gas as they dry and can cause the material to come loose.

i forgot what it was but there was a small window to work in so it didnt happen

contact cement........... i have no glue why it aint sticking. Has anybody done raised logos the same way ? what i do it glue down the raised logo ( vinyl cut out design) with contact cement and then put contact cement over the raised logo/ box and wrap it with vinyl . Then i pretty much push it into place with my finger and then with some tools to make it tighter (i also use a little armor-all for lubrication so the vinyl dosnt scratch) .

you are using a vinyl logo?

Cut a pattern out of 1/4'' wood and it will stick just fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yea im using vinyl material (not a sticker) thats about 1/16" thick...........

1/4" is to thick........ i think it would look stupid sticking out so far. because the design is fully noticeable with the raised logo being vinyl ( 1/16" ). anybody done there raised logo's with vinyl material ? or does everybody use wood?

Try cutting the design out of 1/8 or 1/16 plexi maybe? Then cover the plexi with something? Not sure if you can adhere things to acrylic, but maybe..

does everyone cut their raised logo's from wood? because i aint to good with the jigsaw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif and i dont think i could cut them very accurately (especially the small details).......... is the any other materials that work for raised logo's really well? vinyl was easy because i had alot extra (covering the box in vinyl) nobody has had any luck doing raised logo's with vinyl?

Are applying the glue really , really well in every nook and cranny of your underlay design? What kind of contact cement are you using? I can tell by your picture you have removed the vinyl once before you took the pictures. I used dap contact cement for vinyl work most of the time. After both surfaces flash and are applied to one another. I can't remove the vinyl without scraping and teraing it off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

^exactly

Ive gotten it to pull up numerous times.

the can says its 15/20 minute wait time, and 2 hour working time.

what does that mean?

I tried to apply it in every possible part of the design, not sure if i did it really really well though. im using Dap "the original contact cement " i actually havnt tried covering the design on the actual box, ive just been testing the design out on some spare wood to see if i can make it look real good and tight.

Flash means to dry to the touch. Are you using the red can or the green can dap? Green can = non flamable = SUCKS ......red can = good chit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

red......

I have only done raised logos a couple of times on vinyl, but when I did I used scrap enclosure carpet. Works very well and is easy to do. The edges are not sharp, so you wont risk tearing the vinyl.
Here is a link.

ya i like that height of the raised logo..........

you know what i'll try doing another raised logo on a test piece and i'll give you guys some pics maybe you can tell me if it looks good or not. maybe im being to picky, because to me it seams like it aint tight enough. is there always some air stuck in there or should it be a perfect fit/real tight.

You might not be getting a good tight hold on the glue because you are not letting it flash long enough. If it is still too tacky when you try to press down the vinyl, it will slightly pull away.
