ok so heres a pic of the raised logo i will be doing on my box :

im just wondering what do you guys do to keep the air bubbles out and the design nice and tight?

the box will be wrapped in vinyl by the way ; )

air bubbles?

Take your time and wrap it right and just use a sound deadener tool or a small upholstery roller to form it into the shape.

And use good glue or it will pull back up

and/or use the glue properly...cross hatch the glue and make sure to apply it to both surfaces

you can also use a round pick tool to help form the vinyl

its not really air bubbles....... its just that the vinyl isnt fitting realy tight around the edges of the design. Im using contact cement and a variety of tools (roller, stylus for embossing ,etc) i just thought someone alittle more experienced than my self had a couple tricks to share //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

did you give the cement plenty of time to dry before you stuck them together?

Blew off the box and the vinyl before you started to make sure everything was clean?

also a heat gun can help form the vinyl. Seen it on tv. but you got to be careful you dont, you know. And i believe they used Whale bone to shape and form it. Something about makes it the best tool.

i guess i gotta go slay a whale tonight lol.

ya maybe i didnt let the contact cement dry long enough how long do you guys usually let that stuff dry? luckily ive been doing some testing and havnt actually done the raised logo's on my box yet : )

Let it dry till it doesn't string when touched. It's mentions that in the directions on the can. I think I waited almost 20 minutes the last time I used some.

Apply to both surfaces and when you think it's dry enough wait a little longer before you stick it. Warning is once you stick it it will not come apart so do it right the first time. There's no pulling apart to retry.

ok guys thanks for the help........... I'll try to let the contact cement dry for awhile. and the corners on the box are all rounded slightly ; )

Ill test it out on another piece in the morning and tell you my results : )

ok so i tried doing the raised logo again on a a spare piece of wood again. and i just cant get it to stay tight......... its seams like there might be air trapped or something like that, because it stays tight for a little bit then is comes up again : (

any other suggestions, or ideas i can try to keep the design real tight ?

lol nah man. Its just a raised logo cut from vinyl........... dont know y it aint staying nice and tight.

i aint that much of a noob to make a raised logo from 3/4 " lol. but this is my first raised logo attempt and my project has a bunch of raised logo's so i do have to somewhat master them : )
