Please help me build my first box.......

Ok I am pretty sure I have things down as far as tools, materials, and procedures. I still am clueless on the actual port design of my box.

Box will be for one Soundsplinter RL-P15. I can fit a box w/ internal dimensions of

H X W X L

8.25 X 22 X 35.5......the rl-p15 has a displacement of .18, so I subtract this and get almost 3.55 cubic feet of internal volume. I want to tune this box to 28hz. I honestly try and fathom these formulas for calculating port size, but I truly just don't get it. I really need some guidance here.

What direction should my port face? The subwoofer will be firing upwards, and I really don't have any other options due to space.

Is internal bracing going to be necessary for me?

its basic. all you do is enter your dims and play with port walls 1 and 2 and itll tell you the tuning for those lengths. play with it till you get what you want

You didn't take into account the volume the port will take up...

What is your depth measurement, is that length?

^No I'm sorry depth would actually be width or 22". Yes you are right I didn't take into account the volume of the port, but that is mainly because I have no clue how large it will be. I really apologize for coming at you guys so rankly noob, really appreciate the help. Please let me know any other info you need to help me help myself. Thanks again.

Edit* After messing with that REaudio box designer, I have another question:

What is the difference between having an "L-shaped" port w/ 2 port walls, or just a single straight port wall? Assuming same dimensions and tuning.

No diff in an "L" port, just some boxes will require it to get the necessary port length. I preferred the RL-P tuned to 32Hz after trying several different boxes/tuning. Was the best mix of SQL...

That 8 1/4" height is going to kill you volume wise. You'd be better off doing a sealed box unless you can up the height to around 10".

Just to clarify quickly, I have exactly 13.5" of total height I am working with. The box I was planning would have 8.25" on internal height, but that is including a 2-layer thick top(1.5"), and 3" between the top of that and the "roof" I am working under. So I can go a little taller. Not much though.

Also I am having trouble because my sub will be facing up, so I wasn't sure what kind of a difference that would make.
