please help a noob

i was hoping u guys can help me with this, im very new to this and i already read the sticky. i want to know how to tune my amp. i did the formula for the voltage which came out to be 40(hifonics 1600 watt amp at one ohm), only problem is i dont know what to do with that number. also my amp has knobs on it labeled subsonic, bass eq, low pass, and phase. dont know what any of them means or where they should be set at, all i remember reading about was to not use the bass eq.

please help i dont want to blow my speakers or amps

your going to have to use a DMM to plug into your speaker outputs, and then turn the gain up until your reach your desired voltage.

i just went out and bought a multimeter but i dont know where to set knob to. am i supposed to set it to ac or dc voltage
