PLEASE HELP - 2013 Sonata Stereo install

I bought a new head unit and the Metra wiring harness. It comes with two separate harnesses and they do plug into the factory harness. The problem is that the car's left harness with power and ground also has all the speaker wires. But, the Metra harness only has the power and ground wires on the left harness. The right harness contains all the speaker outputs. I don't understand how the Metra harness can possibly work when the speaker wires seem to be on the wrong harness. Am I missing something? I have posted a picture diagram to help explain what I am talking about.

I have installed 4 or stereos in my life and common sense tells me something is wrong. The harnesses plug in, but all the speaker wires are on the wrong harness. I actually have 2 Metra harness kits and they are both designed this way. I would really appreciate some insight into this since my dash is all torn apart now.

I have the Dimension 7 speaker. I have 4 door speakers, 2 dash speakers, and the 8" sub. This is driving me crazy. I know everything is right. I have the right

harness that they recommend. I don't know what's going on.

I'm also having a problem installing the Axxess steering wheel controls swca-1. Probably because the factory harness for the car is somehow different from the Metra and

Axxess harnesses. Now I have to drive to work with my dash all ripped apart. Arrggghhh

So you have the HYBL-04 harness? Because it does not look that you do.

That harness it the required harness for the amplified system. That harness gets the audio input from the radio's 4 channels and gives that information to the factory amplifier. The factory amplifiers fade and balance are controlled via data. The harness you have doesnt look like the correct harness at all, in fact it appears you have the standard audio wire harness 70-7304....

Once you use the correct harness, the ASWC-1 plugs into the prewired harness, then you must follow the programming instructions.

Are you serious? $170 just to install an aftermarket stereo? You are correct, I just had the base wiring harness.

So even if I'm not using the factory amp at all, I need this kit? This is craziness. I guess I'll call them tomorrow to confirm.

It would seem to me that this is probably the problem. This is gonna drive me crazy

Yes, I am serious. If you're not using any of the factory audio system then it won't really matter (i.e. not using the factory amplifier what-so-ever). In that case all you need is power, ground, accessory (illumination), wire in the ASWC to catch your SWC wires per the Axxess website, and then run your own wiring, rcas whatever. If you want to use your factory system and change the radio, that harness is absolutely 100% required.

Well, I am not happy, but I really appreciate your help. I'm just surprised that this wasn't more obvious. When I searched install kits for the 2013, I don't see the

HYBL-04 come up for it.

One more question though. If I am using an amp for the door speakers, wouldn't I still need a harness from my stereo to the speaker wires? I know I am running rca's from the stereo to the amp. But I still need to connect to the speaker wires. And if the harnesses don't match with the speakers, I don't understand how what I now would even work. I would still need a harness that matches up with the speaker wires. Still a little confused about that aspect. I guess I'm a little confused about that aspect.

Not to be rude but I'm kind of getting the drift that you're unfamiliar with system layout. 1. Unless you look up the exact information - i.e. that you have the Dimension audio system - you won't be given the right parts. If you go to MetraOnline.com right now and input your car with the Dimension system, that harness comes up as the only harness available for that vehicle. 2. RCAs are carrying the audio signal from the aftermarket deck to aftermarket amplifier. From the aftermarket amplifier you run the speaker wires to the individual speakers, or to the output section of the amplifier (which then goes to the speakers). Keep in mind unless you're running an amplifier for your factory woofer, that will be lost. Also IIRC the Dimension system has discrete channels to each speaker (i.e. there's a pair of speaker wires coming from the factory amplifier going to each individual speaker, they are not ran in series) so you may not have enough outputs from your aftermarket amplifier to drive all the speakers in the vehicle.

So it looks like the HYBL-04 has the aswc-1 built in so that's part of why it's so expensive. No now I guess I'll need to sell my semi used aswc-1 on ebay to recoup some money and get the HYBL-04 ordered.
NO IT DOESN'T, the ASWC-1 is PREWIRED in that harness (i.e., you don't have to wire the ASWC-1 yourself, the plug is already there) you still need the ASWC-1 piece itself, just not the harness the ASWC-1 comes with. The reason that harness is so expensive is because it retains all of the data controlled items that the radio was interfaced with given the factory amplified system. That black box is a data module for radio replacement. R&D costs money, producing it cost money.

Don't worry, you're not being rude. I probably should have dug a little deeper. But, I ordered a Scosche faceplate and Scosche recommends the HY12B stereo harness.

I didn't realize that you couldn't directly the amp. The newest car I've installed a stereo in was a 2000 Lincoln LS. In that case, you install the stereo and you lose the amp to the sub. But I guess it's a little different in the newer cars. I had no idea I would need to go through the factory amp.

I just found the kit for $130 shipped to my door. I just ordered it online. I guess I was just used to the old school way.

Thanks for all you help. Now I can drive all week with my dash ripped apart. Oh well, my fault.

So just confirm. Am I still gonna need the aswc-1 separ separately even with the hbyl-4? Just want to make sure before I sell it. From the pics of the hybl-4, it looks like the swca-1 is already in the harness. I'll call them tonight just to confirm. Thanks for all the help

Read my responses above, already answered those questions. I can tell you with CERTAINTY that it does not come with the ASWC-1 as I'm a dealer/installer.

Axxess HYBL-04 (hybl04) Blue Link Interface for Select 2010-up

The BOX that you are seeing is NOT the ASWC-1, it is the circuit board/control unit for the harness to interpret the data for the car and provide the appropriate outputs and retain audio functionality including fader and balance (which is controlled digitally from OEM stereo to OEM amplifier).

The ASWC comes PREWIRED with that harness - i.e., all you have to do is plug the ASWC (SOLD SEPARATELY) into the provided pre-wired plug and program the ASWC.

Reference Pg. 2 second column:

"Additional 12-pin harness (ASWC-1 harness)

This 12-pin harness is to be used in conjunction with the ASWC-1 (not included).

Please refer to ASWC-1 instructions for programming."

With that said PLEASE read the manual and follow it's instructions when installing the radio to ensure proper use and functionality.
