Playing with sub orientation

Well I got bored at lunch today and turned my box on it's back; sub and port up right behind the rear seat, and it seemed to be a little louder. I haven't had much time to play with it, but I was curious if anyone has compared db levels(keeping auto and box dimensions and tuning the same) and frequency gain changes with different sub and port orientations?
