Hello all, well, got my Silver Flutes today from Madisound. First off, let me inform you that I was running the Crescendo ccx65's. And My review on them is awesome for $100.00 shipped. Well built xovers, excellent tweets and nice mids. Althought the mids lacked midbass, VERY nice comp set for the $$. Here are some pics of the Flutes side by sidewith the Cresendos:

Crescendos were crossed over @100hz. Played clean without any breakup at any volume. Powered by a Planet Audio Big Band (100x2@4ohms)Midbass was "ok" but when crossed at 50hz midbass was really there but mids couldnt handle it at high volume which is 20/40. H/u is Pioneer avh-3200dvd. These Crescendos get loud and get louder than my cdt hd-62's. Well, got around to installing the flutes and is was soo cold outside I was really feeling like F@CK this!! But I was soo anxious to see what they were all about. As u can tell, they are much bigger than the Crescendos so i had to do some cutting from my baffles to make them fit. After all is said and done, it was well worth the time. Got them hooked up and played them for a bit. First impression was ummm, they r ok. And honestly after about 3 hours of ridin around, they sound totally different. These babies not only get louder than my Crescendos, but the midbass which is what ive been looking for is there. Got them running off the same amp but crossed them @ 50hz. Id say they are surpass my cdt hd's in midbass with the loudness of my Crescendos.amp is running full pass with the h/u @50hz. I even switched my h/u high pass to "off" and they actually sound as if I have mini subs in my doors. Comps I have ran in the past are DEI Vipers, Polk momo's,cdt 61-61,hd-62, Pioneer Revs and these are the best thus far.I do plan on tryin out some different passives to see if these mids have even more potential. Overall, This has to be the best $70.09 shipped I have spent yet!

^^^^ you planning on going active with them?

I read someplace on Diyma that some guy put his in a door pods.

Im thinking of just getting a pair just to try out.

Im not sure if you are a SQL type of guy,but i was wondering how they sound tonality wise!.

I really love a smooth detail, heavy midbass sound, that will sound good with all types instruments without much cone break up.

Are the Vocals muddy,dry,smooth,warm,Etc.....

Just wondering what else do you hear besides them being louder then The cdt's or the rest of those other cmps you've played with in the past.

hey man ,i like my music loud at times but theres nothin like it sounding good at the same time so i guess u culd say im more of a sq guy. I have been doint installs for some years now but i still have much to learn. As far as the Flutes, the vocals are clean and smooth and do not break up as volume increases. And when crossed at 50hz, they put out the midbass and retain the clean vocals at the same time(something the crescendos could not do)I think that the flutes are about even with the cdt hd-62 as far as clarity with vocals but i give the flutes the win due to the fact that they play louder. And keep in mind this is all MY opinion based upon my install. the upper midbass is sick on the flutes, the lower notes are nice but i think could be better but is limited due to being installed in my doors. I think a sealed pod would work better for these. Now im sure active would bring even better results but my current h/u is not capable.I put in some blues and the guitars/harmonica were nothin short of awesome. I do hear certain things in songs that i did not hear with my crescendos. I really think the more i play them the bettr they get. I am sending 100 watts per side to them with my amp set on full pass. im still running the xovers/tweets from the crescendo set and wonder if even a better set of passives wuld even help the flutes sound even better. The HD's are a nice set also but if your comparing price to performance then $30 per flute is hard to beat compared to the price of the hd mids.Hope this helps

Im glad you liking your flutes. IMO for price they can't be beat, i love my flutes. Quick question, what do you mean by your headunit not being active capable? Do you mean it only has two channels? You could just get the clarion eqs746 to get the 6 channel preouts then run that to your active crossover. Right now i don't even have a headunit. I run the line out from my mp3 player straight into the clarion eq, then that to my active crossover and amp. Works great
