Plasma vs LCD vs DLP

rear projection last's the longest but you got to see if with dlp you see rainbows and with plasma you get burn in if not to carefull and the set has about 60,000 hours of life before it loses half of its brightness with lcd you dont get as good as contrast.

so rear projection is cheaper and lasts longer just need to replace the bulbs every 3-4 years and dlp you might see rainbows but the contrast is amazing on those sets, lcd and plasma are ultra thin.

Just hit the stores and see what you like best.

So which one do you think has the best picture quality ?

New Plasma Displays don't burn in as easy as they original ones did. But, there is always a chance so if you are a serious gamer than you shouldn't pick a plasma.

To be 100% honest I don't like DLP. The pictures just never impress me.

Some good brands I have liked to look at are Sony, Pioneer, Samsung, etc.

I was told, and I dont claim this to be true, but this is the what the best buy dude told me when I was shopping around.

LCD, has longest life IIRC, but the slow refresh rates can leave ghosts or shadows in the screen. So for action tv, such as sports and such, not a good choice. I have noticed with my cousins LCD a little ghosting from time to time watching football.

Plasma, has the brightest picture. But because of the glass fronts, often has bad glares. If you are putting it in a basement or a place with no windows, the guy recommend this.

DLP, the main downfall was having to replace the bulbs.

I dont guarantee this info is correct, just throwing in what I was told, by someone who potentially has more knowledge than me in this. I ended up choosing DLP, mainly for the price, and I really have nothing bad to say about. Picked up a 46" Samsung for under 1400 I believe. Im no TV pro, but I personally think the picture quality is great. Maybe not the best, but for the price I think it was very nice.

Just go to the store and buy the TV you think has the best picture for your budget. Who cares about life, all of them will last 10 years and what are the odds you keep it more than 10 years?

I like the new panasonic plasmas, but I am a front projector guy. I also like the xbr series sony tvs. sweet06camry just hit a best buy and some circuit citys and see what you like and when time comes to get a surround setup just come visit my house and ill demo you my setup. I like the picture of my tv, its VERY good but since I use it so much I can already tell the tv isn't as bright as when I first bought it, tv is on about 12 hours a day (if im not watching it someone else is) but it still has incredible picture. Either way I dont care im saving up for a jvc rs1 front projector.

IMO if your in a light controlled room then rear projection tv is awesome if not then plasma just make sure its not facing any windows like some said earlier
