If you choose a capacitor for a frequency that is less than the crossover you choose electronically it will not affect what you hear in your music, and it will act as a backup crossover as well as block damaging DC pops. We never intentionally send our tweeters bass or expect to have that dreaded thump come through our speakers, but for a couple of dollars you can use very simple protection.
