I have on of these amps in my car running at one ohm and it is powering a 12" apline type R. I was using it last weekend and then all the fuses in the amp blew. So i replaced all of the fuses in the amp and turn my car on and the amp starts smoking. I pulled the fuse out from under the hood and then put it back in to see if it would work, well the amp just started smoking again. The wierd thing is though that the amp still turns on and the green light turns on, but it doesnt power the sub at all. Is the amp blown or was the sub smoking? I have no clue what to do to check it and this isnt the first time i have blown a amp so i am starting to get discouraged because it seems like i am always messing around with my stereo trying to get it to work right. Thanks

Have you used this set-up for a while or did you just install it ? If you just installed it, maybe the sub wiring is wrong and the amp is seeing less then 1 ohm ? I have the same amp but have never had that problem and im not sure if this amp is stable below 1ohm. What size is your pwr. wire ?

i am using 4 gauge wiring with a 80 amp fuse. it has been working great for like a month or so but i have had problems with it in the past also.

Try hooking your sub to another amp, maybe in a friend's car or whatever. Sounds like the sub my have locked up. Also make sure your power wire to the amp is grounding out somewhere.

well i hooked the sub up to a buddies amp today and it worked fine. so i tried hooking the sub up to my amp again and it went but only when i would touch the speaker wire to the terminals and then it would cut out. i would plug the neg. in and then touch the pos. into the terminals and it would just die. so i assume this means my amp is blown?

x2 in opening the amplifier. Look for blown transistors. Sometimes they look good, but their cracked , so you may have to bend a few of them from the thermal paste their usually stuck too. If the transistors arent blown check the power supply . How is your power wire ran to the amplifier ?

My neighbor had the same problem with his planet audio amplifier. He kept boosting the line input up to high and later that day it smoked up , yet the power light would come on as if there was nothing wrong. Hooked the subs to my HCCA 250 @ 1 ohm, and they pounded .
