Mmmmm Sexy brakey brakey! Formula 1 brakes are pretty amazing. It takes a manufacturer, like Brembo, 24 hours a day for 6 months to fabricate just one brake disc! Intense!!! An F1 braking system can put a driver under 5Gs of deceleration. Thats the equivalent of 5 times your body weight pushing against your immediate direction of travel! To put that in another perspective, when the most powerful machine ever built, the Saturn V Rocket, launched the Apollo astronauts to the moon, they traveled over 14,000 mph in earths atmosphere and underwent 4Gs. So depending on the circuit, your modern F1 driver can be subjecting themselves to higher G forces at more times over than our Apollo astronauts did!
