Pissed Me Off 2day

You should have started punching //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ready2go.gif.6557fa3d88b9eaca9c7b8efb9cbd02ed.gif everyone in the shop....And then asked again!

i hate most local shops.. theyve never heard of any brands but mainstream, they dont talk to you unless you show them youre ready to spend a ton of money right then, they charge msrp, they assume you know nothing about car audio and make cocky comments like the ones posted above, they think they are god of the car audio world, etc

Yep. I'm kinda new at this and try to search and find out answers before I go look around. Well I go to a local car audio shop and exactly what you guys are saying happened. If it aint mainstream and you don't have money falling out your *** they don't want to talk to you. It makes it kinda hard for peeps like me because I would like to hear what I am getting before I buy it. I have bought most of my stuff off ebay and will continue with advice from peeps on this board.....

All i gotta say is i love this board. There is a lot of great informantion, advice, and some turtorials on things regarding car audio. Everyone here will tell you the answer the best they can and most the time honestly as they can. Some threads even make me laugh to tell you the truth with some of the childish bickering but its all in good fun. Great Website!!

i went around to see how much an amp for my rl-p 15 would be, and i mentioned my sub to everyone i talked to of course. and to my suprise none of them downed it, yet asked to see it or ask where they could check it out. they all were more than helpful but the one thing that made me mad was the installer came out to present the car me and he said "i didnt turn the gain up much, and i just toyed with the bass boost a little because i wont put that much power to a sub unless its of good quality. of course...i snapped on him and i took it BACK to him after i tuned it a bit myself. needless to say he was more than embarressed at his remark he made.

The local shop around here " Tower Autoplex" is pretty nice, they moved into a new building across the street thankfully because the shop they were in was more or less like a repair shop and sucked and had no room. The new shop is REALLY Nice, the customer service is decent, there are two assholes at two seperate desk to the left, and to the right theres this cool dude named alex thats really helpful but acts like hes on speed hes always busy with something. Anyways, when I went in yesterday to pick up my amp kit, Alex asked what I hooking up, I said comps, he asked what brand name. I said Diamond Audio and he was " Wow, really, where did you find em" I said " Ebay for 299" he said " Yea man I brought the name up in a meeting we had, and voted if we wanted to sell this product because he found out their distributor who is an authorized dealer of infinit and also Diamond Audio...to make it some-what short lol when he brought it up they turned it down because they figured it wouldn't sell due to the lack of intrested, and the name value. So eh, Alex is a smart guy.

The fact is most car audio shop workers only know what is taught in the MECP book or some other qualification programs. Every once in a while you'll get a salesman/worker who knows alot about a certain brand as they are probably the rep for that brand. The fact of the matter is most shop guys are only familiar with what they sell or what is sold at other local shops. So far i have been to about 6 or 8 different shops up here in maryland and none haven't even heard of RE, Treo, and DD. I mean the shop i did all my stuff at in georgia didn't even know about the good stuff untill i told them about it or suggested that they carry the products. I would under stand not actively promoting subs like Treo SSX's just due to the price... i mean if you saw a for sale sign on a front window " 2 15" subs on sale for $1350 " would you really go in to buy the subs? My shop down in geogia tried that... and the advertisement read. "Audiobahn 34" sub on sale $3000, Audiobahn 5000w amp on sale $4500, Installed $9000". Now that sub is a coffee table.

Man I hate local shops too. When i went looking for subs i went to a shop that sells memphis, mtx, and something else i dont remember. But he let me listen to the memphis LVS 15's and they were pretty **** loud and one of the employees had 2 M3MOJO 15's with one of the memphis amps dont no what one but it was big. Any ways i heard that and i was impressed i must say. then he asked me so what are you looking to do and i told him well honestly am looking to get either 2 eclipse 15" ti's or just 1 eclipse ti pro and he's all eclipse don't make very good/decent subs but there headunits are ok. I was like ok well i gotta go now LOL.

Hey Bigred what area of MD?

Only problem I have with install shops is that their behind the scenes work is usually a lot to be desired. Most installers are paid on commision and need to turn out vehicles. You spend a ton of cash and end up with crappy wiring. I've seen it too many times.

guy that owns a shop in my area....told me i have a flea market sub..(DD9512e)...:p lol he told me he can buy it at the flea markets for like $100, iasked him which one so i can go buy a lot more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
